Emotional Day :(

So today was a free day. But free days are not to be taken lightly. So we made it jammed packed. Up at 8 to visit the emotional but fascinating Killing Fields of Cambodia followed by the S-21 prison. These sites are a part of Cambodia's history due to the ruling of Pol Pot who was held responsible for murdering over 20,000 Columbian people and the total loss of 3 million (1/2 population) lives due to awful living conditions. The killing fields were interesting and fascinating, as it showed just how secret and severe this genocide was. There were bones, teeth, old rags and murdering tool still left in the ground there today. It was very hard for our tour guide as his family were murdered as a result of these events. After the fields we went to the prison which was a former high school that was transformed. Prisoners were tortured and abused so bad some committed suicide. We even got a chance to meet one of only 11 survivors, of which there are only two alive today. He was 85 years old and he showed us his wounds that he still caries today as a result of his torture. This included ripped off toenails, broken fingers and many more obscene injuries. It was definitely a trip worth taking, very interesting and not many people even know about it. After this we went to the riverside in Phnom Penh, and had some lunch. Later that afternoon we headed to the central market which was famous for its tourist stalls, with fake clothing everywhere. Ray bans, Calvin Klein's, Beats, Shoes, Rolex's! Everything, you name it! By the time our friend had bought 3 watches and the girls had bought countless numbers of sunglasses we headed out. I think it's safe to say, we have mastered the art of bartering. After a lovely meal we headed to the famous Sky Bar where we had some cocktails, as you do and had a nice evening together as a group. Loving it!
