Up and out! It's Tuk Tuk time baby!!! Tuk Tuk tour this morning around the Capital of Laos, Vientiane. First stop was a couple of temples named: Vat Sisaket and Ho Phra Keo. The temples had very much changed from what we were used to. They were a lot like the Thai temples! So lots of Buddhas and (concrete) snakes outside to drive away the evil spirits. Two very large temples with awesome cool designs! Onwards! Next up the Patuxai or Victory Gate. This gate is very similar to the Arc De Triumph and it was in fact build after it! So yeah a huge beautiful gate like structure in the middle of the road! Cool views from the top overlooking the city and the water fountains. Next onto the Wat Pha That Luang, the most important national monument of Laos. This was very gold/yellow temple but sadly it was under reconstruction so had scaffolding all over it. Nevertheless it was good to see and an Important part of Laos. Finally we visited a prosthetic museum supporting the COPE charity. It was a program set up in Laos whereby locals could get prosthetics for free. Thousands of people ranging from infants to the elderly had prosthetics made specifically for them with no cost at all. It all started during and after the war as Laos got affected by the conflict between Vietnam and America. A wonderful charity. Back to the hotel to check out and head to our next destination. A short but sweet time in Vientiane. First impressions of Laos are very positive, fantastic scenery, cool people and a little less manic. Just before we left we walked down to the riverside whereby you can see Thailand. Vientiane is located right on the border and just across the river was Thailand. Off we went, Vang Vieng we are coming for you! Through the jungle, mountains and countryside, we had arrived! This place was in the middle of no where with an amazing backdrop of the mountains. Unpacked and then Laura and I headed down to the local river for the sunset. It was buzzing, small local boats whizzing up and down, kayaks out, hot air balloons in the sky. Awesome view! Grabbed some pictures, selfies and sat there watching the sunset for 30 minutes or so. Amazing, one of those moments where you think where you are in the world. Love it. Off for dinner, nice place, caught up with the two new people. Nice evening, and couldn't resist a pancake on the way back. Go big or go home they say so I got it all: Banana, Peanut butter, chocolate and condensed milk! Incredible hahaha but now feel dodgy :/ Gentle stroll back to our room on stilts and lights out.Â
