Slow Boat!

The day had arrived where we boarded the slow boat that will take us down the Mekong River. However first off a few of us decided that we would take part in the offering of food for the local monks. So at 5 am me, Matt and four others headed to the centre of Luang Prabang and bought some sticky rice and packets of food and waited with our shoes off kneeling on the matts. Along came the monks and we handed out our food that we had got, it was a new experience for all of us and one that I quite enjoyed actually. We headed back to the guesthouse got breakfast and hit the road and headed to the slow boat. After an almost disastrous start with me almost falling in before we even got on the boat we worked our way down the Mekong River. Today's journey was a total of 10 hours and we docked at our overnight stay. Tonight we were staying in a local Homestay (Namkhong) literally located in the middle of the Laos jungle. I was looking forward to being switched off from the world and all electricity for a while. Local dinner was served under torch light and then after a few rounds of cards we all went to bed at roughly 8:30. Mosquitoes nets down and off to sleep with our local families.
