Busy busy busy!

Ready for a jam packed day? Up, breakfast, out. Today we were heading off on a highland tour. First stop was the breathtaking tea plantation. Higher and higher we went, until there was nothing insight other than fields and fields of tea plants. It was amazing. As far as the eye could see there was tea. An Englishman's heaven. There was over 600 acres of tea plantation and this was controlled by only 200 workers who worked for 12-14 hours a day. Madness. An awesome sight to see though. This followed by driving further up the mountain to the highest peak of the Cameron Highlands. A view from "Tetanus Tower" which would have been fantastic, unfortunately it was a tad foggy, but you got the idea. We call the tower "Tetanus Tower" due to the fact it was half fallen apart with metal sticking out everywhere, and it was rusty, very rusty. Just a short walk from "Tetanus Tower" we entered the Malaysian rainforest. We slowly trekked through the forest looking out for animals and plants along the way. We came across the lemongrass, ginger, cinnamon and tiger balm smelling plants. Good fun. Back to the tea factory where we saw the process from the leaf to the fermented leaf. Hahaha doesn't sounds like much difference but there is, it is crushed, mixed, dried and packaged all within this one factory which was 2 rooms big. Well, as we were at a tea plantation I would be rude not to try some right?! So we did, with a scone...... It was so good! Reminded me of home! Next! Butterfly farm. The Cameron Highlands are known for their butterfly farms and strawberry farms. We entered this room and immediately got attacked by butterflies, they landed on our heads, backs, noses and other places... A few people got a bit panicked over the butterflies which was fine, but there was worse to come. It was also the home to some reptiles. Snakes, spiders, geckos, scorpions, giant grasshoppers, stick insects and more other crazy animals. The first thing I got put on me was two snakes. Only small green ones so it was alright, then a Rhino beetle and finally some cute geckos. Great fun it was and lots of pictures to go with. On the picture front, sorry. It's been hard with the lack of decent wifi and spare time. I will put them up as soon as I can. Onwards, strawberry farm. Just like our 'Secrets' at home. Pick your own, similar prices as well which was surprising. Laura bought some fresh orange juice while she was there. Classic Loz, at a strawberry farm and she picks the OJ! Hahah. Busy busy day, finally arrived back for some dinner and then came back to the hotel and played some cards which was nice. ZzZzZzZzZz.
