SINGAPOREEEE

Early start and straight off to the bus terminal. Today was a border crossing day, off to Singapore. Everyone was tired and slow this morning so as soon as we were on the bus it was lights out. Woke back up again when we were at the Malaysian checkpoint. We all had to get stamped out of Malaysia before getting into Singapore. As we walked in there were loads of queues, which made us all worried as it was going to be a long day. Luckily they were not the queues that we had to wait in. We were pretty much straight through. We had been warned that the Singapore border was very strict so all chewing gum, alcohol etc had to be removed before we crossed. Next stage was the border. Grabbed all our belongings and off we went. Waited, waited and waited. Fairly long wait before we all got through. Typical me to be stopped at security as well. They questioned me to if I had a knife in my bag, which I did, a penknife. So they made me take it out and they had a look at it. After some discussion they allowed me to keep it. Always me.... We were in. Hey Singapore. Short drive to our hotel and headed off for lunch. Singapore was beautiful, clean and very modern. Unfortunately we were only in Singapore for a day which meant we had to cram a lot of stuff into this afternoon. This was due to our flight being early the next morning. So we got on with it and walked to the harbour front to see the amazing landscape and a brief view of the botanical gardens. They were amazing. We headed into the Marina Bay Hotel which was very posh. £350 Singapore Dollar for one night. From here we recognised and saw the Singapore F1 race track which was cool. Before we came the Denbigh's had given us some money to go and buy a Singapore Sling in the Raffles hotel which was very kind of them. True to our word we made sure we visited and got our drink. I'm so glad we did, an awesome experience. Sat at the bar, with our Singapore Slings and chucking our peanut shells on the floor. Incredible place. Really good fun, so thank you to the Denbigh's! A few of us decided to take part in a night safari this evening, so 6:30pm and off we went. Wasn't quite what we experienced in South Africa but it was nice to see a lot of animals, including the clouded leopard and Malaysian tiger. But sadly it was very commercial so they were not wild of course. They were enclosed. But it was still nice to see. So that was it really for Singapore. Definitely want to go back and explore loads more it has to offer. A really cool stop off though. Off to Indonesia tomorrow. Bed time!
