Our final temple!

Today was our first day of activities in Yogyakarta and we all made our way to the first stop. We arrived at Borobudur which was the largest single standing temple and it was really impressive. A local guide took us around and explained the history behind it and how it was seriously damaged by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes that took place not to long ago. The evidence of this damage was the mass of Buddhas that were headless and a passing joke went round about them spending too much time laughing and that is the reason why their heads are no longer there. Anyway moving on and we carried on to the top where the views were amazing so everyone went off to capture their own pictures. Matt and i and a few more people headed back after that to chill out before the evening. That evening we went to a local performance about Rama and Shinta and how Shinta was kidnapped and Rama went out of his way to find her. It was very different to anything that either of us had ever seen which was nice. Absolutely knick knacked we made our way back and took ourselves off to bed ready for what tomorrow had in store.
