Compared to the other home stays we have stayed in this one was brilliant. We didn't even have to wake up early! Off at 9am and heading to Bangdung. En route to Bangdung we stopped off at a couple of places including a wooden puppet maker and a huge mosque. We turned up at this house which we got to by winding through many backstreets. There was a small sign, 'Puppet Maker'. We intruded an elderly man carving away, making wooden puppets. We saw the process in how they were made and what they were used for. They were excellent! The detail was awesome, with many different colours and designs. This was fitting as later on we were going to see a performance which had these wooden puppets included. We then visited a mosque which was massive but nice to see. Everyone was staring at us and taking pictures, it was weird but funny at the same time. They all seem to enjoy seeing us as it isn't a regular occurrence. Check in time and after some lunch we went to see a show that included a variety of Indonesian dancing. It was amazing! So it started off with a 15 minute demonstration of the puppet show which was so good. It's all done by one puppet master which is the incredible part. We then watched so many dances ranging from 5 year olds dancing to an orchestra of Angklung (Indonesian bamboo instrument). Then it was our turn. We all got given an Angklung and ended up playing some tunes we recognised. Really good afternoon! In the evening we strolled to a food market which was lovely and had all types of Indonesian food! They also had these Indonesian pancakes which were massive and so thick! It was pretty much a cake folded in half. Mix that with chocolate and banana and by golly do you have a dessert. Rolled back to the hotel and lay there bellies up until the morning!Â
