Angkor Wot today! This is the largest religious monument in the world. So in order to see it at its peak we had to wake up at 3:30... for a 4:30 bus journey! We arrived just as the sun was rising and caught the best view of this awesome temple! For an early start it was surprising how many people there were. We watched on as the sun rose into the sky and behind the temple! Amazing, well worth the early wake up. After some breakfast, we then wondered around inside the temple for a closer view. It was incredible, the architecture and design was fantastic. So after a few hours we caught the bus and headed to our second temple of the day. The heat was kicking in! This temple was called Ta Prohm, where Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was filmed. This was based in the middle of the jungle/forest which was cool as there were huge trees integrated into the site. Onto our third and final temple of the day, which was Bayon. Bayon was a massive temple full of Buddha, on all the main pillars of the temple there were faces, happy, sad, scared, jolly. We got our famous picture, nose to nose with one of the famous faces. By this time it was around 1pm and we headed back for some lunch and a rest. Later on Laura and I walked around Siem Reap a little more and explored the markets, the local river and some cool street stands. Now for dinner. We had our dinner accompanied by a performance from the locals which was nice, although I was digging into my dinner I missed most of it. The group was feeling funky so afterwards we signed up to the Siem Reap Pub Crawl! Yeah...I guess you can imagine where it went from there. Really fun night with lots of pictures. Laura managed to win the drinking competition and won two burgers. She didn't just win it, she flat out smashed it by a mile. Classic! Free t-shirts and face paint, why not! Great night! Check out some pictures on Facebook! Stumbled into the hotel room and that was that. Siem Reap delivered, great day!
